Quality Engineer

GPAC is a national executive search firm for the nation's manufacturers and industry professionals, and has been retained by a confidential client to conduct a search for a Quality Engineer at a solid Automobile parts manufacturing facility, with competitive pay/benefits and a great company culture. The Quality Engineer will develop the part/product specific quality systems for newly awarded business. Review and approve Gage designs, create control plans, support PFMEA development, write and submit internal and external Corrective actions as required. Support all customer quality activities.

Location: Western Michigan

Education and Experience: 2 year higher education Degree and/or 2-4 years of experience in Quality Engineering.

Knowledge of the Quality Engineer: Must be able to demonstrate understanding and experience with writing control plans, reviewing Gage designs, PFMEA, interpretation of GD&T, corrective action development, and an understand of the APQP process.

Skills of the Quality Engineer. Use and understanding of the following: IATF (auditing), Root cause Analysis, PFMEA, GD&T, APQP process, Minitab, PLEX(MRP), AIAG principals.

Duties of the Quality Engineer:


  • Interpreting GD&T and customer quality specifications, on various products to determine accuracy and precision.
  • Hands on working with the Engineering team on process development, focusing on prevention and detection within the processes.
  • Writing and submitting corrective actions to internal and external customers for issues that arise in the development of the process.
  • Assist in the creation of the PFMEA for current and new products.
  • Develop and finalize APQP forms/documents as required in the APQP process.
  • Travel to equipment/tooling manufacturer locations to review equipment/tooling to ensure it is built and constructed to meet the quality expectation of the customers (internal and external).
  • Analyze data during part runs to determine capability of the process and potential changes to the process to improve capability.

  • Level of Authority: Process technique changes as related to part quality and customer quality expectations. (in conjunction with the Manufacturing project Engineer)
