Job Description

A community bank in northwest New Mexico is seeking its next Chief Credit Officer to join the team. This bank is very community-focused and looking for somebody that is passionate about people and the clients they serve.

This individual will be responsible for implementing the bank's credit risk policies and procedures and overseeing the credit administration department according to risk tolerance. Must be a team player as this position will work directly with the Credit Administration staff to develop and implement formal procedures and provide additional training to the Commercial Loan Department.

Will oversee all credit administration, annual loan review, credit analysis, and support special asset functions of the organization in accordance with the policies and practices of the bank.

Qualifications/ Expectations:

  • Must have 5-10 years in a credit management role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
  • Ability to write effective credit write-ups and memorandums for lenders
  • Implement credit policies and procedures as well as the coordination of credit administration activities for a portfolio of loans
  • Manage the performance of a team of credit analysts. Providing feedback, coaching, and development to ensure accuracy of work and consistency with credit policies
  • Determine the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, with the goal of minimizing risk
  • Participate in deal and credit approval process, ensure appropriate communication with all relevant parties, and adherence to credit policies and approval authorities
  • Engage in restructuring and/ or workout process to protect the Bank's assets and maximize recovery
