Chief Electrical Engineer

Our client is a large construction/design firm in Greater Chicago that is actively seeking a qualified Chief Electrical Engineer to join their team. The company is a nationally-renowned General Contractor that has been in business for over 60 years and has several locations around the US.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a Commercial Electrical Engineering background to take their career to the next level! This individual would function as an electrical engineering department head, and frequently collaborate with other upper-level professionals in the organization. Interfacing with clients, subcontractors, vendors, etc. would also be included in this position, therefore effective communication and project management skills are highly valued for this role.

Key Functions:

  • Leads a team of electrical engineering staff members
  • Evaluates and reviews work performance for acceptability and conformance with department standards
  • Participates in scheduling, contract control, budget and cost control practices
  • Supports the project management process from inception through completion
  • Coordinates with other building design disciplines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 8+ years of project engineering experience within an engineering/design firm
  • Strong communication & supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of/experience with cost estimating
  • LEED Accreditation
  • Experience with REVIT and AutoCAD
  • Previous experience directly interfacing with clients, contractors, and/or vendors
