How will you make an impact? The Manufacturing Engineer supports the Value Stream leader and Supervisor in achieving daily production targets prioritized by Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. He/she will be responsible for ensuring all production equipment is operating efficiently and generating optimal product yield. Following the priorities set by the Manager and Supervisor ensures that work stations are set-up and staffed for efficient production, including resolving issues with quality & customer complaints. What will you do? * Provides technical support for the chemical distillation, solutions blending processes, High purity solvent blending processes, validation & scale up activities. * Provides leadership and technical support to the value stream. * May back-up Manager and Supervisor in daily Tier meetings or in priority setting. * Monitors equipment performance and trouble shoot equipment problems. * Identifies problems in control systems then implements the proper action to restore the system to standard operating conditions. * Focus on continuous improvements. * Works with contractors to Install, troubleshoot, tune, calibrate and repair electronics equipment and system processes. * Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA and other reliability techniques in our new CMMS system. * Calculate/Provide appropriate metrics and KPIs to area and site to drive excellence/improvement in Maintenance processes * Apply engineering theory and practice to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluations * Analyze equipment trends & historical data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost. * Determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact equipment reliability * Promote consistency by standardizing equipment procedures & operations within area of responsibility. * Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment criteria and specifications to optimize equipment/system reliability and life cycle cost. Also provide technical support for fabrication, installation, and start-up of new critical equipment. * Develop and participate in production turn-around/shutdown teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures * Participate in maintenance and reliability networks, sharing best practices, successes, and failures. Ensures production of high-quality products in a safe manner. Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and deliver quality product to our customers. * Analyze and resolve technical and operational problems. Work with value stream to support troubleshooting of chemical production issues. * Suggest and implement changes in manufacturing environment, facilities, and equipment to increase efficiency of operations. * Review and evaluate all documentation used in production for proper methods and process controls * Support and participate in the company efforts in Practical Process Improvement (PPI), LEAN, standard work and 5S How will you get here? Education * BS in Chemical /Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related fields required. Experience * 3-4 years' experience in chemical production environment. * Knowledge of chemical distillation process, chemical processing * Advanced personal computer skills and Maintenance systems knowledge (CMMS). * Familiarity with production equipment including tanks, vessels, piping, pumps, compressors, fans, valves. * Experienced with Process Safety Management (PSM) system and making upgrades to distillation process and tanks. Ability to independently drive process & procedure improvements using management of change systems * Experienced with QA equipment validation process & pilot scale manufacturing, Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and Process hazard analysis (PHA) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Ability to solve practical problems and make recommendations based on identified datasets * PC literate with a working knowledge of Databases, Access, Work, Outlook, and Excel. * Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of the organization. * Analytical ability to detect and solve problems. * Must be capable of multitasking in a rapid paced environment. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail * Good verbal and written communication skills * Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills are essential * GMP and GDP experience a plus At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 75,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
