Fleet Compliance Manager

The Fleet Compliance Manager is responsible for providing technical support and oversight of the company's transportation programs in compliance with DOT regulations specific to the environmental waste industry for our facilities and field and industrial service locations across the company. They work closely with internal and external partners, including regulatory agencies to renew permits, DOT authorizations, and resolve inspection violations to meet DOT regulatory obligations. They promote consistent application of the regulations while providing relevant information and reports to upper management on program performance.
Job Requirements:

  • Work on transportation compliance programs and policies with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work on implementation strategies with Director of Fleet and Regional leaders
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies to renew permits and other DOT authorizations while building rapport.
  • Partner with operations staff to create and implement training modules.
  • Conduct DOT compliance audits.
  • Oversee and maintain transportation database, systems and procedures for accurate, up to date contracts, safety files and insurance.
  • Analyze and oversee claim resolution.
  • Provide analysis and reporting metrics to the leadership team.
  • Conduct meetings to facilitate communication between corporate and HEPACO service locations.
  • Collaborate with different business units (Safety, HR, Operations & Finance, etc.)
  • Partner with, encourage, train and motivate team members across the organization to achieve goals.

What you need to apply:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, i.e., Environmental Science
  • 7 or more years' experience in transportation compliance. Experience in waste management, remediation, or emergency response industry preferred.
  • Willingness to travel (minimum 25%)
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of current transportation practices, DOT regulations and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve regulatory issues with regulatory agencies.
  • Position is located in our Charlotte, NC Headquarters
