The Grading Foreman is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager with direct in-field supervision of a crew working on all phases of construction. The Superintendent/Foreman is responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas of work under his/her direction and control. The Superintendent/Foreman serves as the front-line Safety Officer for the site/project and is directly responsible for the Safety of his/her crew. In this role the Superintendent/Foreman will direct the crew in grading/earthwork operations.

Skills required:

* Proficient in reading plans and stakes, setting and checking grade, utilizing grade checking tools including transits, lasers, GPS and String Line.

* Leading a crew in an efficient manner achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort and expense in fine grading operations.

* Use of computer technology and software including iPad, email and daily tracking software.

* Familiar and experienced with all types of grading equipment including rollers, water trucks, paddle scrapers, loaders, skids, backhoes and road graders.

* Experienced with sub grade perp, curb and gutter concrete pavers, asphalt prep, concrete paving prep, placing road base, measuring and tracking quantities Job Qualifications

* At least 2 years of experience as a foreman or above.

* Experience reading blueprints/plans.

* Field supervision experience is required.

* Possession of a valid driver's license.

* Understanding of soils

* Ability to read grading stakes

* Computer Skills needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

* Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching and handling of materials, equipment and tools.

* Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery and tools.

* Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.

* Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.

* May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.

* May be exposed to loud noise.
