Job Description

An industry leading, international manufacturer of office furniture and organizational products, in Milford, Iowa is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. The company has been in business for over 50 years providing superior customer service and solutions.

Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Identifies opportunities and implements changes to improve products and reduce costs using knowledge of processes, tooling and production equipment, quality control standards, product design, materials and parts.
  • Determine root causes of failures using detailed observation and statistical methods, recommend/implement changes in designs, tolerance, or processing methods.
  • Provides technical expertise or support related to manufacturing in our Wood departments.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials or processes.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods.
  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Develop / revise documentation (eg: work instructions & BOMs) for new and existing products.
  • Deliver documentation (eg: work instructions & SOPs) for production associates to efficiently produce product.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects from identification through implementation/sustainment.
  • Ensuring a safe environment exists
  • Identify, implement and deliver cost savings and quality improvements year over year.
  • Delivery of quality product meeting documented requirements / customer's expectations.
  • Play a critical role in new product introductions as well as insourcing initiatives.

Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of related experience working in manufacturing.
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints (drawings).
  • Experience in gathering and implementing labor standards.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
