Job Description

Description of Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of reviewing Residential appraisals.
  • Understand and maintain a thorough knowledge of all bank, investor, and correspondent programs and requirements.
  • Individual must have the ability to calculate qualifying income including analyzing tax returns and financial statements.
  • Assume additional duties as they arise, cross-train within the department, and be responsive to the department.
  • Expert knowledge of AUS systems, (DU, LP)
  • Communicate credit decisions, answer loan level questions and address issues on outstanding items required for credit approval.
  • Knowledge of Encompass360 and/or paperless documentation environment a plus
  • Proven leadership ability, with experience leading and inspiring Teams to high performance levels
  • Ability to create and update detailed underwriting guidelines to supplement/enhance agency standards
  • Maintain and cultivate effective working relationships with clients and business partners

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Twp plus years underwriting experience.
  • FHA DE Underwriter Certification
  • Associates degree in business or equivalent experience, 4 year degree preferred
  • Solid knowledge of bank compliance requirements, bond market and corresponding investment analysis strategies; as well as knowledge and adherence to Fair Lending laws and regulations.
  • Highly proficient mortgage technology knowledge and computer literacy (eg MS Office); proficient knowledge of working with spreadsheet and creating formulas. Ability to become proficient in use of specific software required for position.
  • Solid knowledge of Secondary market (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.), desired.
  • Ellie Mae Encompass experience preferred
  • Embrace Continuous Improvement concept and ability to be a change agent
  • Ability to clearly articulate position when enforcing policy/guide interpretations, while engaging all layers of the organization
  • A high level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to maintain current and on-going education requirements to remain current to job trends.
  • High level of confidentiality required.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects with varied deadlines.
