Job Description

The Plumbing Estimator will be responsible for creating accurate cost estimates for bidding projects in various construction markets.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule project takeoffs to allow enough time for sales to put projects together and submit pricing
  • Maintain current material pricing in estimating software
  • Solicit fixture pricing for upcoming projects from at least two suppliers
  • Alert insulators of upcoming projects
  • Download all project documents (drawings, addendums, specifications, schedules, Geotech reports, wage scale) from general contractor for review by sales
  • Review Geotech for any impact on below grade piping
  • Perform detailed takeoff from project drawings based on project documents (specifications, addendum, Geotech, wage scale)
  • Check architectural, mechanical drawings for any plumbing scope not shown on the project plumbing drawings
  • Note any discrepancies in project documents for review by sales
  • Verify supplier quotes are complete and as specified. Get pricing for any items not quoted by supplier
  • Put takeoff summaries together and make detailed note of any discrepancies and forward to sales with marked up drawings and project documents
  • Performs other duties as required

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, vendors and customers
  • Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Preferred Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial plumbing
  • Experience with Quotesoft, Trimble, or
