Job Description


With the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, verifies consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practices and high quality systems; validating processes; providing documentation. Responsible for ensuring a product or service meets the established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance. Quality assurance testing activities necessary to ensure quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and resolved.


The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Interpret and implement quality assurance standards
  • Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards
  • Maintain and assure documentation of inadequacies and assist in resolution
  • Handle first article paperwork, inspections, certificates of conformance, and material certifications
  • Keep file system up to date by removing all irrelevant files placing them in storage for seven to ten years
  • Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems
  • Plan, conduct, and inspect materials and products to ensure finished product quality
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system
  • Develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions
  • Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards
  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements

Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person


The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by additional college level or technical institute course work with specialized training in quality control surrounding steel fabrication.
  • Certifications are an advantage, including Quality Auditor, Quality Improvement Associate but not required
  • Candidate has to be reliable, a strong team player and regular attendance is required.

Knowledge of:

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and databases
  • Tools, concepts and methodologies of Quality Assurance
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements
  • Teamwork
  • Data collection, management and analysis
