Banking Senior Accountant

Banking Senior Accountant Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting
  • CPA certification strongly preferred (Graduate degree in management or accounting in lieu of CPA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, emphasis in finance or banking preferred.
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of accounting and banking software.

Banking Senior Accountant Responsibilities

  • Leads, supervises, and manages the day-to-day accounting operations
  • Manages and maintains responsibility for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Prepaids functions
  • Administers lease accounting software and reporting in accordance with ASC 842
  • Owns investment securities accounting, respective reporting, and administration
  • Assists with changes to the internal wire transfer requests
  • Completes and submits tax forms 1099, use tax, and property tax assessments
  • Coordinates and administers monthly/quarterly financial close processes
  • Manages the processes for reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly financial reporting items
  • Responsible for the preparation of daily and month-end entries to the general ledger
  • Supports in the preparation of management and board of director reports
  • Responsible for assisting with the preparation and filing of all regulatory reports including quarterly and annual regulatory reports
  • Manages the fixed assets process, system, and supporting detail records
  • Safeguards the proper maintenance of documentation for purchases, depreciation, disposals, and transfers in all respective tax books
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls over financial reporting requirements
  • Collects and analyzes financial data and provides high-level internal customer support
  • Assumes responsibility for special projects assigned by the CFO
  • Research new accounting guidance and helps implement changes in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Assists in developing Finance Department policies and procedures and related documentation
  • Assists with internal and independent audit processes as required to ensure timely completion
  • Back-up to payroll function in an emergency
  • Cross-trains in additional functions of the department
  • Completes all required regulatory training as assigned within deadlines established including BSA, Bank Security and any other training as assigned
  • Meets response and resolution times as defined in service level agreements and/or service requests, and follows established processes to meet service level commitments
