Job Description

The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Develops and implements Audit Test Policies and Procedures for all areas of the Bank including BSA
  • Prepares and presents reports regarding the results of testing performed and the adequacy of the bank's internal controls
  • Manages the performance and activities/assignments of the Internal Audit staff to include hiring, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining
  • Creates and maintains appropriate levels of documentation for all audits, internal & external
  • Assists the Chief Risk Officer & Business Units with preparation of Annual Risk or department specific assessments and reports to Bank Executives, the Audit/Risk Committee, and the Board of Directors
  • Coordinates with External Audit professionals; assists in determining scope, audit programs and management of audits
  • Conducts research as required to detect fraud and to develop controls for fraud prevention.
  • Prepares and submits Criminal Referral Forms.
  • Stays abreast of changes to federal and state banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operation, and product offerings of the Bank.
  • Coordinates audit work with external auditors, and examination work with regulatory authorities.
  • Administers the bank protection program.
  • Conducts liaison with local, federal, and criminal justice agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Self-starting team player with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related and CPA or CIA accreditation
  • Six years of financial institution auditing experience with emphasis on financial and operational auditing
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in auditing BSA/AML/OFAC/Fraud internal controls and operations
  • Experience in scoping specific audit plans involving all areas of the bank, to include IT, Mortgage and Investment operations
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with development and maintenance of audit programs with a solid understanding of accounting concepts (including the ability to interpret and analyze financial statements) and audit/internal control concepts
  • Attention to detail and mental concentration for accurately performing tasks and handling numerous interruptions
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to travel, as necessary
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired
